fees and policies
Rates
Ballet Classes lasting 1 ½ hours will always be at the hourly rate plus $25.00 (example: student enrolls in a 1 ½ hour Ballet class, and one Contemporary class: $60 for first hour, $55 for second hour, and $25 for extra half hour of ballet = $140 per month)
Class rates are per student, and are not discounted for multi-student families (example: Family with two children enrolls each in two classes. Each student is charged $60 per first hour, and $55 per second hour).
Registration Fee
An annual non-refundable registration fee (per family) is required for all students registering for classes. The fee is $35.00 for returning families, and $40.00 for new families. Tuition and Payment
Monthly dance tuition is based on a guaranteed minimum of thirty-four (34) hours of instruction provided over a nine and one half (9 1/2) month period from September through mid June (see studio calendar for details). Total school-year tuition is divided into nine equal installments plus the prorated half month of June payable on the first of each month in advance via automated credit card, debit card, or automated check.
Pro Rating
Students who register for a class between the 1st and 15th of the month will be responsible for the full tuition payment of that month. Students who register after the 15th will only be responsible for half of that monthly tuition payment. Withdrawals and Refunds
There is a two-month minimum for all lessons. One-month notice from the first of the month is required to discontinue any classes. Withdrawal must be done in person and will not be accepted over the phone. Withdrawal must be done at the front desk and not with the teacher. Withdrawal must occur within the first 7 days of the month (example: withdrawing November 1st through 7th will result in only being charged for November. Withdrawing November 8th or later will result in a full tuition charge for December).
Substitutions
The school reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach classes. JAMZ also reserves the right to change teachers during the school year for any reason. Class Size
JAMZ “caps” class size for most classes anywhere from 12 to 20 students depending on the style of dance. However, we also have requirements with regards to the minimum number of students necessary to be enrolled to teach a class for the entire term. Minimum requirements are not published. We reserve the right to combine and/or cancel classes. (example: should only two students sign up for a class, that class will either be asked to combine with another, or it will be cancelled altogether). JAMZ will release the parent or adult student from this contract should we cancel a class due to the minimum size requirement not being reached, and provide a prorated refund for unused lessons. Dance Showcase and Costume Fees
A showcase information packet will be distributed in the first part of November containing full details of showcase participation. This packet must be signed and returned by December 1, 2011 in order to participate in the June showcase. Costume fees for the year-end dance showcase ($75 for 8 yrs and under, $90 all others) will be charged to your account on January 15, 2012. No costume fees will be refunded after this date. A showcase fee of $55 per family will be charged to your account on May 1st. Each participating family will receive two tickets to the showcase, one showcase DVD and a full color program. Additional tickets (as available) are $17.50 each and additional videos are $35 each. Tickets to the showcase will be sold on a first come, first served basis starting mid May at the front desk. **Due to the number of classes and number of competitive team dances, we will be having two showcases in June. The showcase fee of $55 includes two tickets to one of the shows (whichever your child is performing in), a dvd, and a full color program. We will work out the logistics should you have a child or multiple children that are going to be featured on both shows at a later date once we have set the number of dances to be featured. Additional tickets to each show are $17.50 each. A “master” or “golden” ticket that allows attendance of both shows may be purchased for $30. If your child is featured on both shows (for example, all JAMPAK competitive team members will be), your showcase fee of $55 will include two golden tickets at no additional cost. Required dancewear and dance shoes must be worn to all classes. Failure to wear required dancewear to class could result in students being asked to sit out the class. Repeated failure to wear required dancewear could result in termination of lessons and forfeiture of tuition. Students are not permitted to wear jeans or shoes worn on the street or outdoors to any dance class. See “Class Etiquette” for dress code. Attendance and Lateness
Late students may be asked to observe their class rather than risk injury due to lack of proper warm-up time. Repeated lateness may result in termination of lessons or class transfer. A minimum attendance level may be required for showcase participation. If a showcase participant misses more than 4 classes without written notices, the school reserves the right to deny the student of showcase participation. Inclement Weather / Studio Closures / Makeup Classes
In case of inclement weather, Jamz Dance Center DOES NOT FOLLOW the Anne Arundel County school system. Please call the studio and/or check the website for the most up to date information (www.jamzdancecenter.com).
